About Our Pre-School

Shoalhaven Community Preschool is a community based service. It is a not for profit organization which relies on State government funding, grants and fees and fundraising to operate.

Pre-School Management

The preschool is managed by a Parent Voluntary Management Committee, elected by members of the Incorporation annually at our March AGM, and responsible to community Services as representative licensee of the preschool. The committee contributes to policies, budget, recruitment as well as general management issues. The authorised supervisor is accountable to the management committee. A parent or legal guardian of each child attending preschool becomes a member of the Incorporation. The committee meets monthly at preschool in the evening. Positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Publicity Officer, Fundraising coordinator and general committee members. Sub committee for maintenance and fundraising are often formed to assist the main committee. Committee members are registered with community Services and are required to complete identity and working with children checks. Shoalhaven Community Preschool is proud to be a NSW Water Wise participant, and a sunsafe centre registered with the Cancer council. Shoalhaven Community preschool has an evolving vision to be an environmentally sustainable preschool. We have engaged with our community to install rain water tanks that flush the toilets, have a worm farm for the children's scraps, encourage unpackaged food in our nutrition policy and work hard to maintain an outdoor environment that celebrates nature. Our preschool is a professional partner of the University of Wollongong 'Early Years' Mentor program. Shoalhaven Community Preschool uses the Early Years Learning framework to support children's learning We began co-coordinating SRA Aboriginal funding for the Shoalhaven cluster of five preschools in 2007, and continue currently. Our preschool is licensed by the Department of Community Services (DoCS) and supervised by advisors from this department. We are a 2 unit service catering for up to 40 children per day.
